Fitzpatrick Equipment
Fitzpatrick Equipment

Fitzpatrick originated the Fitzmill and has been building size reduction equipment for the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries since 1937. The Fitzmill hammer and knife mill is one of the most widely installed milling platforms in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Fitzpatrick runs test plant labs at three sites: Waterloo, Canada, which is also the head office; Ahmedabad, India; and Evesham, UK.

In The Techceuticals Lab

Fitzpatrick Fitzmill M5A
The Fitzmill M5A in the Techceuticals lab is a pilot-scale hammer mill used for size reduction and granule conditioning. Trainees learn how blade orientation, screen selection, and rotor speed change particle size distribution, and see the difference between knife-forward and hammer-forward operation on the same material. Running it against the Comil, its sister brand in the lab, shows how differently impact and conical milling treat the same granule. Because milling sits between granulation and compression in most solid dose processes, the M5A is where trainees connect granule properties they created upstream to the flow and compression behavior they will meet downstream.
